well I am a pc user alternating between two machines. one has xp where 512 is the mininum but i run it with 1gb. the other is vista where 1gb is the minimum but I run it with 2GB. these minimum requirements are so that you may barely run the system itself. I would have to say the final answer is buy more ram but still keep the other advice in mind so that you reduce future errors.
