Default Simple But Kind of Newbie question

I'm having trouble with image sizes for websites. Not the visual size mind you, but the memory size. A sample page I came up with was 1-2MB at times. Is there anything I can do to reduce the size of images being used for a website?

Post a link and we might be able to see where you can cut the size down

Photoshop

Save for web

When i create websites, i use GIF for everything EXCEPT photo's, which i will use JPEG.

For your gifs you can adjust the settings, like so:

Remember > Use JPEG for photos at about 60% quality
Use PNG's for transparency ( use IE6 css hack though to get around the display problems )
Use gifs for solid blocks of colour
