Look.
Just to say this and get it out of the way
if u planning on using a template for something like a webdesign site that offers original tmplates for people, it doesnt make much sense using a template for your own site
clients would be asking themselves "how is they gonna do us site if they themselves must use a template"

Now in general, if u have a site that people wont judge by a popular template, i say use it, but remember even one u buy can be customized beyond the point of recognition so it is like 95% unique and original.

this is just my individual opinion though =)

It's fine if you do a lot of webdesign firms these days buy one customize it so they dont spend too long on it.
It just wouldnt give you a unique look is all

why do people buy templated when you can get perfectly good ones for free!

Some do it to remove the copyright at the botom and stuff in the code that ur supposed to keep.
Others do it because most premium templates that cost money are much better, compared to the free ones.

If your going to pay then you might as well look at free tutorials, download dreamweaver 30 day trial and build your own!

Websites are like business cards you don't want one somebody else has. Alot of templates sell for £60 but if you want it to be your's you might pay £500 and they'll make it yours.

the css ones are good for learning css/xhtml, graphic templates give you ideas maybe but apart from that I think they are useless I personally disilike image heavy designed websites
