Would love your help for my major project

Hi all!

I'm a final year student at uni in sydney studying visual communication.
For my final project I'm working on a book that visually explores the vocabulary of designers. I've been looking through design reviews and have found all these quirky phrases the writer has used to articulate themselves.

As part of my research, I want to ask you as designers what DIGITAL MACHISMO means and some words you associate with it??


I'm trying to compile a list of responses for all sorts of expressions from designers around the world. Quick and honest responses would be much loved

Digital Machismo: Possessing a certain masculine mojo that is in a digital form. An example would be a video game that uses guns or where you can drive a car. I guess another would be in graphic design where a design is very masculine looking; like a website that exudes masculinity. IMHO .....not sure what others think.

So i'd say... i dunno... some kinda competitive spirit between people online?
Sort of an electronic wang-slapping contest. Of course, i'm making this up but i also think you're making that phrase up.

no i didn't make up the phrase (lol) -i found it in an interview of the designers from one9ine in the Fresh books --i'm not sure if you've heard of them.
I've got a whole lot more of these really wierd phrases... hope u don't me asking u guys another one...

what do you think "whacking up elephantine horrors" means?
