Question Learning Code...

What is the better (more useful) code to learn, JavaScript, or PHP and why?

I will learn one of them as i am buying some books from amazon.
Thanks...

They're completely different. Generally speaking (and I mean very general) JS is bells and whistles stuff and PHP is more powerful and can do absolutely all sorts. I'm dabbling in PHP at the moment and it's sooo powerful.

Javascript is client-side, it can alter the browser at any stage or interact with the user. You can do loads with it, but what you can do with JS is a totally different skillset to what you can do with PHP.

PHP is server-side. It's quite powerful yes but it's... well you can't really compare it to javascript, they're totally different.

I would recommend going for javascript first because i personally think it's more useful for everyday tasks here and there, but learn both because neither one is that difficult.

Learn CSS and XHTML before you even think of moving on, best rule in design is learn the basics first

you don't need a book to learn xhtml and css, use resources on the internet, that's what I did and I am now good at both : )
