Probably illustrator, I would say it was made with a 3D program but the lighting isn't right, and the top of the D doesn't feel right for a 3d program.

Looks like they just did it by hand in illustrator. Although, you could possibly do it in swift3d.

If you are trying to use a 3d app to make that, don't even bother trying to get the optical illusion done within the 3d app. Just do it in PS afterwards and save yourself the headache.

i doubt a 3d app was used, i would say its all done in illustrator.

i agree, it is not perfect, which it would be if you used a 3d app.
