Default HTML Changes

Okay, so I've been trying to throw up a sample website for the client and I want to do some manual HTML changes. So I open up my source code for this website http://theworldsgreatestemail.com/ and then I override the old source code.....

Well, as my luck would have it, when I open the new index file, I'm looking at my source code as the website, not the website.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.
Christina
(PS....don't come down on me too hard...I'm not a programmer, just a lowly designer.) ; )

Your using dreamweaver i presume ?
are you entering code in to the 'code' section or the 'design' section.
This happened to me once - when you put the code into 'design' it treats it just as writing. i might be wrong. although, i hope i helped

It's actually ImageReady. When I copy the code that it generates and I take it into TextEdit, I make my HTML change and then save it. But when I go to open it, it only opens the code, not the actual website.

I'm naming it index.html to make it the main file so I'm not sure why it doesn't treat it the same way as the original. I've done this so many times and I've never had this problem before.

Ah... mac users *snigger*.
Lol, right, i don't have a mac, but i have worked on them before.
I THINK if you go into the properties for the files (or whatever apple calls it) by right-clicking if you have a right mouse button or... ctrl + left-clicking (i think?) and clicking on properties.
If i remember correctly (haven't used a mac in about a year and a half at least) you can change what application is used to open that file.

I'm not having any problems opening the physical file to make my changes and then saving it, it's when I go online to open it as the main web page file. The index.html file appears the same on Explorer and Safari.....all HTML source code.

It's probably just a head tag missing or something isn't it? I'd hazard a guess at something like that.
