Default If a site looks good, and loads quick, what does the code matter?

Why, even if a site looks really good, must the coding be fantastic? Not many normal, everyday people, clients, would look at that. So why is it important. If the coding on this website was very, very messy, it would not bother me!

Please explain...

You've obviously never had to update another persons code, rather than work round all those tables and
's it's better to start again. So an update becomes a re-build meaning more time and more costs for the end user.
Plus you needs standards in anything you use or sell so why should web design be any different, just because it's relativlely new standards are a way of making people work towards the same goals in the same ways.

Cross Browser Compatibility for one, you code it the CORRECT way, you can almost assure not matter what browser or OS your on, each user has the same experience.
2nd, what toon said. God help you when you have to update a site that has 35 nested tables.

AND i know your ONLY posting this to play the devil's advocate. And not because your code is shotty and can't be bothered to learn anything new.

My code is fine as i use DreamWeaver CS3, but i could use Serif WebPlus 10 (www.serif.com), see what you think.

just because you use DreamWeaver CS3 does NOT mean your code is fine.

WOW!!! As much as you guys expect me to come off the hook on this one... I'm just gonna let it go. Just remember that just because it works for YOU doesn't mean that it is going to work for everyone else. Your design should be accessible by EVERYONE.

But without getting into it... Here are 14,700 Reasons

Here's a group who are trying to help: Web Standards Project

Then there's:
508 Accessibility

And to help you out, we'll make it easy:
