Question Saving .MAX files with baked textures as .X files (or .3DS)

Hi,

I am new to the forum so hello everybody :-)

I have been using 3DS Max 8 and Deep Exploration 5 for some time now and I know how to texture basic obejects with Unwrap UVW, etc.

Recently I started to play with the Render to Texture funcion in order to prepare lighted and shaded textures and make the models look more realistic.

All seems to work well until I export the file into .3DS or .X format. When I do that, the object(s) seem to lose all their material and/or mapping coords and the resulting material mapping reverts to the very simple, non unwrapped format - just like I would take the testure and drop it on teh object without any kind of unwrapping and editing.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Best,
Al
