Magazine or Multipage help

Hello folks, I might be approaching a multi-page book or a magazine design. My problem is that I have never done this before. Well I have used Indesign for most of my work but they are brochures and one pager ads.

Do you know of a place where I can download a SAMPLE multi page or magazine so that I can see how the pages are assembled?

I would appreciate your help.

what type of magazine multi-page book are you designing for because most magazines has a different layout depending on the type of magazine

I think my most worried question is how the pages sit, Some say front and back of the cover should be on a separate file, some say you can include it with the inside pages.

If the covers will be printed on a different stock of paper than the interior pages, they will need to be in different files. Otherwise it's okay to keep them in the same file.

The layout should be in a layout software such as InDesign, Quark or Pagemaker. Do not attempt to do a publication in Word or Illustrator/Corel Draw. Most print shops will not take them. If they take a Word file, they usually upcharge for the printing process.

Always make sure your page increments are in 4's or 8's depending on how many pages will print on a spread. If it's a perfect bound book, it doesn't matter how many pages.

ianm yes my concern is mostly with page numbering and facing pages and if the first page is on its own if that is a problem and things like that.
