A Wordpress widget sounds cool, if you only use Wordpress.

I build sites using MODx CMS and for ecommerce, Ive started using Foxycart (foxycart.com). It is XHTML and CSS validate (and customisable) and its got some cool javascripty AJAXy stuff in there.

Im loving it anyway, and the support is quick and personal.

Check out Joomla!

I use it and it is VERY good. The new version that is on v1.5 Release Candidate 3 uses AJAX. Its a total CMS and has a LOT of community support. Plugins include Community Builder, WordPress, and tons of others (such as webmail, shopping carts, etc.) and the best part is most of the plugins are free as well!

Joomla!
