Logosauce, Logosauce, Logosauce?

I keep hearing it's name everywhere and I've logged onto Logosauce but still can't quite figure it out.

I go to logopond which is a place for logo inspiration but this Logosauce seems to be more like a comeptition and they pay you for designs.

Could someone describe to a Logosauce noob how it works and what it exactly does?

Logosauce is a great site, it's mainly an on-line portfolio for designers to display their logos. The problem is it's hard for the people to own it to regulate it meaning anybody can upload just about any logo.

So the quality is very varied from some amazing stuff to some pretty poor stuff, also because people are given the freedom to comment on whatever they like you're not quite sure if the crit is from a respected designer or just from any old person.

It's had it's ups and downs but the site is built very well. If you search it on the forum they'll be loads to read there's also a piece on the blog.

There should be a points for reputation theme there where you earn things.

WHo would determine that? Other designers or the people who "buy" the designs.. you know ordinary people.
Then how would it get rated? By whom and so on... that is what the original conflict was as I watched it happen when someone didn't like how their works were rated, how the rating system was designed and how in competitions the ratings were bloated by new members, etc. I mean I don't care anyway about it.. not really my gig anyway. I do find quite a few people there that need other assistance though.
I agree with Toon.. it is a good place to upload and store work in a portfolio format. Other than that, I would avoid it. If people want honest evaluations of their work from designers, they should post their designs in this forum. And if they want evaluations from software engineers, there are other forums for that...
