background-repeat: no-repeat;

^ You need that in the Body section of ur CSS style.

Then set a background color thats the color of the red before it fades black
then wrap the whole site in a div and margin:0 auto 0 auto; it. (If your keeping that site).

As for the banner i have no artistic talent but if u PM me with what style u want ill make it for you.
