Okay, so Logosauce is in the topics again.
I was looking at logos and came upon this one (link below). Notice how there is a comment regarding that it's possibly copied (plagiarized)? Well, it's not really. Since the client asked for initials that he can pull out and use, it really is fair game for the icon/initials. If the fonts and/or icons aren't identical, it's not plagiarism. Any other thoughts on this one? http://www.logosauce.com/logos/2250 |

I had to put on mine a note because it was too much the same as moon's idea, but I suppose when you're competing for a job like that the faster you are at getting your idea down it's tough for everyone else that has the same idea.
I don't think Moon will care his logos are far better than most on there.

I just think that because the client said 'initials' ..... how many ways can you do initials? There really aren't a lot of ways.
It's kind of like putting an initial in a circle.....is it plagiarism if someone else already did that? |

I think moon is just being light hearted about it as we've already had a bit of friendly banter about mine looking like his.

i don't like the fact that people are using logosauce in a wrong way for example people aren't uploading there own logos they are only uploading competition logos it defeats the purpose of logosauce - Logo design, inspiration, information no where does it say logosauce - Logo design, inspiration, information and competitions

This is a pointless copy of a pretty decent logo...
http://www.logosauce.com/logos/2232 Least they admit it but still pointless.

Okay, so I posted another novel on Logosauce. This one is in regards to this same thread.
I'm honestly not sure why she's offended by my saying that the initials being included in the logo is a no-brainer. That is what the client asked for. : ) Please read on: http://www.logosauce.com/logos/2250 BTW....I don't know Moon personally and I have nothing against her, I just feel the need to educate. Copyright laws are sticky issues and I believe that I am among a small handful on these boards who knows anything about these laws. …and if that Logosauce thread gets modified again, here it is: Moon: looks a bit familiar.. check this out: http://www.logosauce.com/logos/2047 Cwilk: Different font and totally different icon. Using an initial(s) is no-brainer for this logo since the cient requested it, so there isn’t a problem because the icon isn’t even close to looking like another logo. Cwilk: Just Added: I totally understand that they are logos with familiarity, but many iconic logos using just initials are all very similar. When a client says they want something specific, it is a no-brainer; you’re not having to think “Wow, I wonder if the client might like initials?” So I’m not sure why it wouldn’t be a no-brainer…they’ve handed us (the designers) an idea of a design element that they’d like to see incorporated—initials. Our job is to take that information and use it creatively. I’m totally confused as to why it is an insult? And really, all of these type of icons with slanted initials are Enron looking logos. None of them are that original, they are just positioned in the opposite direction than the Enron logo or the E in Dell’s logo. A few on here are very original. Now on the other hand, I have seen several of Moon’s logos that are very unique where the icon/initials is a piece of art and not a font, and if some other artist on here were to emulate those likenesses, that would definitely be a no-no in my book and would border on plagiarism. Also another thing to think about when commenting on here…..client’s know how to read. They are not blind. So before you write something, make sure you don’t mind if the client reads it. It may be the difference between getting a client or losing one. Moon: i don’t think it’s a no brainer.. you are insulting some people’s intelligence and creativity right now. I hope you are not serious about the no brainer thing. And i did say it looks familiar, idea is the same, isn’t it? execution may be different. Actually, if it was a no brainer one, why should those designers come up with this one? are you saying that you are better than all of us? i have no problem with this logo, i just wanted to point out.. even toon said his was a bit familiar to mine. No hard done.. it’s just the no brainer thing that’s a bit disturbing right now. Last edited by Cwilk; 30-05-2007 at 06:32 PM. |
