Our company does a lot of work in Photoshop that can't be done in Illy. If I hire a designer, they better know a layout software or PS and Illy. It's always nice for them to have experience in all three, but not always necessary.

Here's a piece we did for a client. It didn't have to be a very large graphic. This one was almost completely done in Illustrator and then we added Photoshop elements into it to complete the project much faster. Most of the jewels are PSd in. We would have taken several more days otherwise and the client couldn't wait that long. But I would never do this unless the client understands. We always charge more for our Illy work.

Yes, PS can be quicker in making some artwork (which is why I was showing the graphic above), but Alex, don't rely on PS for logos or other things that should be done in Illy. It's fun to do effects in PS on a photo. Illy isn't for doing photo effects. So basically you've got the right idea.

Here's a project for you:

Find a photo of a ballerina in dance with her toes pointed and hand up in the air.
Find a photo of a world leader with their face facing the same way.

Now take the face of the world leader and superimpose it as the head of the ballerina. Next, take the hand of the ballerina and copy and paste it and make it the foot of the ballerina. Pretty much this is the easy part.

The hard part is making the pieces look as though they belong where you've put them.
