Default How do I chop an image up...

...precisely, so that when pieced together it looks exactly how it did in the original Illustrator design?

For example, I have an 800 x 800px image and need to cut it up into about 10 pieces so that when the pieces are put into a table of some sorts for a website, they display as one whole again.

I tried cropping and cutting areas out in Photoshop but that can't work because I can't see exactly where to crop the next piece.

It's probably something glaringly obvious but I've not had all my software for long and am very much a beginner. Any help would be gratefully received.

Export as a PSD file and open in imageready, you can then slice them and export them it will even export the HTML for you, you can do it from photoshop but the compression is a little better in imageready I've found.

That was a really quick reply, thanks Toon! I've never used Imageready but there's a first time for everything.

Thanks Toon, that's been a really big help. I'm almost there with my new myspace layout now.

You can also slice them in Photoshop.

ohh my... all you print design majors.. well for what its worth. Fireworks is my choice. Macromedia--> Web Adobe-->Print

I use Photoshop for advanced tools that I create specialized designs in but transfer them to Macromedia in my final mockups for web production... and if I have to touch Photoshop on a design, it affects my pricing as well.

Here is a GREAT tutorial.. start to finish on a project by Gordon Mackay...
