If you're talking about what I think low res screen images don't cut out as well as high res images

If you get photoshop it's easy if you can't afford photoshop download GIMP it's free, you may have a problem around the hands as they're blurred and won't be that clear.

What i would do...
Do you have Photoshop CS 1/2 ?.. if so drag your image into your program
and follow these steps.

1) Double click on your locked image layer, and click OK. This should now be unlocked.
2) Go Filter > Extract and you will be presented with a decent sized window with your image inside it.
3) Now the idea here, is to set your brush tool to a smaller sort of size.. (on the right of your screen in the wider sort of window) And just simply Zoom in using the magnified glass + tool and simply draw around the basket ball player carefully. remember: the smaller the brush size, the better it will turn out to be. Also note: you may want to try smart highlighting.. does wonders.
4) After fully drawing the line around the basketball player, choose your fill tool and click inside the lines you drawn, it should Fill with a colour.
5) Simply press OK.
6) You will now be taken back to your photshop document with only the area you selected using Filter > extract.

OR.. if my numb skull instructions didn't help you could always make something of this tutorial: http://www.macmerc.com/sections.php?...tid=260&page=3
(really help full)
