    What do I charge?

I have NO idea about what to charge for a decent vector drawing.
Please, I could use some guidelines from you!

Like what would you charge for this:

I spent 6 hours on it, I gave him .ai, .pdf and two .jpgs. I got $59 for it, which I think is quite low, less that $10 an hour...

    What do you think?
I have gotten a lot of vector requests on a Volvo forum, and I want to work out some standard pricing before I do more work...

    Please, help!

Oooph. You'd be looking upward of $500 for that I'd imagine. Easily. It's not solely about time, it's the (obvious) talent and skill. They pay you for something they lack the ability to do, that in itself rockets the price up. I wouldn't be able to give a definite price though...

Hmm, ok. I'm too afraid to ask for a fair amount of money...

What I find is that if they quibble prices based solely on "that's too high" then they're probably not a client worth working for, so move on. I had a guy wanted a site built for under £100, it's not worth my time or effort when I could move on and find clients who understand/appreciate costs.

No problemo. I'm not actually too hot on giving pricing advice etc so you might want to wait for some other pointers :)

Why don't you qoute an hourly price that you are happy to work for. If a client wants a volvo drawing, you tell them there is 6 - 8 hours work involved, and you work for $20, $40, $60, $120 per hour. Add any tax on top (I live in Australia and I collect a 10% tax for gst) but don't forget to tell the client that. Clock your hours, write everything down you are doing and put it on your invoice so your client can see exactly how much time you have put in.

And don't under price yourself, $59 is insane for that much work!

What should the customer get of files? .jpg and .pdf? The .ai file as well? Should I charge for those too?
