Think I'm gonna practice some. And buy some good equipment, drawing paper, B/2B/4B pencils and so on.

Yeah go for it, I used to be really good, but with using the pc too much, I cant draw for shit now. Best thing is to have is ideas and inspiration, so even if you have a few scraps of paper and a HB pencil/ball point pen, it helps to just try and sketch things around you, or your initial ideas - it might help you come up with something that you may not have considered if you just jumped straight onto the pc :)

Wow, thanks! You say you used to be good, but aren't anymore, that means that it goes the other way around too? That's motivating :)

I concur.. go for it!!! I went to art school when the first computer illustration degrees came about. There were those skeptical Commercial Art Directors in the beginning and several that refused to look at a computer as another medium or tool. But in the end, over the years, I think it's quite obvious there is a spot in the marketplace for it. In fact the old school hand drawn layouts are almost unheard of. Those guys are falling to the wayside as there job now depends on people like you to render their work in some usable fashion.

Go to a used book store, cruise through the art section and find some artistic styles that you enjoy and would like to try, pick up a couple "how to" books and start practicing.

I suggest starting with one idea, one object or subject you would like to draw, practice that until your drawing style begins to develop, then move onto some other (more challenging?) things.

You can get better at drawing, it just takes practice, but if you have an eye for composition you can do it! Go for it!

Here's something I doodled out with pencil while watching trains with my hubby and son, pencil is a great place to start:

Thanks! That's just a little piece of the image I drew, I love those flowers though.
I love to draw, and try to get to it as often as possible, like blueocto said though, if you don't use it, you lose it.

Do you have a certain type of art you want to try out?

Well, I really want to be able to draw mascots and characters.... So I need to practice human proportions. Then I have to be able to mess with them :P

Well if you have a used book shop in your area you should be able to find some how to books there on characters pretty easily, or spring for some new books if you're really up for it.

Good luck!
