Fontleech: The best free fonts on the web. << Font Leech, great blog with some great truly usable fonts

Gray Graphics << Gray Graphics fonts, some of my favorite free Japanese tech fonts

Maniackers Design Font | ƒfƒUƒCƒ“ƒtƒHƒ“ƒg << Maniakers, great Japanese foundry for techy free fonts

EUTYPOCE << look for the Sukplena font

misprinted type 3.0_ art, design and type (1998-2005) Eduardo Recife << Misprinted Type, good distressed, grungy fonts

04 << some bitmapped and techno fonts

BOBO << Dinc Type, tons of free display faces

typedifferent.com << Buro Destruct, more oddball display faces

PETITBOYS << PetitBoys, Japanese tech fonts

Lovedesign co. ラブデザイン << more Japanese font goodness

I can keep this up all day and have barely scratched the surface.

However, if you are looking to invest in a set of fonts to progress your design career, there's really only one solid choice and that is to purchase a copy of the Adobe Type Library. This will give you the full range of classic standards that are the core of good usable type. Yes it is expensive, but with 2300 fonts at $2599 for a 5 cpu license, that's only a little more than $1 a font which makes it an incredible deal considering a lot of the fonts included cost hundreds of dollars each if bought individually.

That's a great piece of advice, I can't understand how designers want to get a head in the business without putting a budget aside for decent font sets
