Default criticism on my new website? http://inst-gaming.be

Hello!

I'd like some constructed criticism on my new website.

It's based on the WEBspell CMS, but edited to our needs as a eSports community and gaming clan, such as:

- a whole point system, which allows you to earn special stuff
- an edited admin panel, which added loads of CMS possibilites
- optimized every single SQL query (it's unbelievable how dirty the webspell code is)
- extra member-friendly functions

We've tried our best to make it as SEO as possible, but we're still working on fixing some stuff, such as SEO URL's

Post only C&C comments please!

Interesting...nice colours.

all of your game/scene news banners have to go, or you just need a designer to work on them as opposed to a content writer, because that's what it appears to be.

here's a list of which ones I was talking about:

all of these

and these:

A few tips I can give you, would be to use a different image for each piece of news, relating to each topic. You may need to be open to getting a designer to work with your content writer on this for each time he/she writes news, but it's well worth the look.

Also, add a lot more to your about section. This is where users need to literally know, why they should visit your site again. I suggest maybe a full page, 5+ paragraphs describing it. If i didn't know what this site was about, i'd turn to the about page to find out, and "Instant Gaming is a semi-professional multigaming clan that is striving to reach the top in every aspect possible." doesn't explain enough.

I agree with Harry about those banners. They don't aid users in giving the impression about the content and appear like images for the content. I'd build in some sort of site-like element for those. Maybe a green bar with a tiny icon for each thing and the title?

The logo is a bit odd, or maybe just the 'guy flexing himself' as the I, which seems to have no relation to the rest of it or the concept...
