Default The difference in Artworker & Designer

As I am job hunting, I keep seeing these terms used (and misused) by agencies. It was my belief that artworkers have great mac/drawing skills and simply mocked up other peoples ideas and finished designs whole the designers had a more creative approach?

so i guess - what is an artworker and what is a designer and when do they merge?

Have a look at this, http://www.oimoi.co.uk/candidate-news-article.asp?id=80

you might want to read some of the other ones too, they are pretty useful

mmmmm thats about as I thought. I was looking for that article actually and could not remember which site it was on so thanks.

of course, does not stop them throwing all the titles into one like 'creative graphic artworker/designer' or worse.

In this day and age if you want to make good money as a designer make sure you're a good artworker as well, make sure you know as much about web layouts, as many programming languages as you can, colour detail including spot not just process, press and outputting knowledge is also a must, typography and even photography is a massive bonus.
