errrrrrrrrr.... well its basically the same sort of thing. ummmm pass.
Does any1 here have a setup where they use e.g their HDTV as their screen and rgraphic design on it... I'm craving a HDTV, but have a feeling colours etc and resolution wont help me in terms of Graphic designing.
I have a 56" Mitsubishi that has a DVI input... I'll set that up and show it off sometime. You can see its limitations and abilities. I used to run a Home theater setup off it.
i cnt afford 56" im thinkin 32" - 40" -- altho i have a beautiful Samsung 226BW screen....
plus i have a PS3, thats whats pushing me for that HDTV
i was jus concerned that colours would look diff etc because it was a TV and not a computer screen.
its more about your Video Card capabilities and maximum screen resolution. Do you operate off of Mac or PC?
all designing on my macbook which i connect to the samsung screen, legwork , music etc done on my PC
well, all your rendering is dependent on your video processor. I think you will come into the shortcomings when you try to connect ANY laptop to a TV. You may consider going the standard tower route, either PC or Mac, if you intend to render it on a larger screen.
I lean toward PC environment as it is seamless integration... macs are very good at rendering on THEIR screens, but also VERY proprietary in nature. If you insist on a Mac, you may consider a Cinema Display
Wor kid put his on his 42" samsung (new flat screen thingy ma bob) and it was good, but you couldnt really watch telly with sound, and eventually hurt his eyes and his ass sitting on the laminate flooring lol
thought id update this... i basically ended up getting a 32" HDTV.. hook my Macbook Laptop via VGA and sometimes my PC Desktop via HDMI up to it.. running it on 1366x768 in terms of clarity etc its great.. colours are vivid aswell..
advantages:
- watching movies is amazing on my TV, got loads of HD Content so its good to see its full potential
- multiple devices: got my PS3, PC Desktop, Macbook all hooked up at the same time
disadvantages:
- the drop in screen resolution, having got to used to at least 1680x1050; the drop to 1366x768 took some getting used to.. on Mac, its nt a big deal due to spaces.. but with my PC it defo gets a lil cramped...
-the size: at first sitting in front of a 32" screen for hours on end was unbearable, but honestly, ive gotten used to it, and its not a factor anymore
great investment - for movies etc; but honestly, i see myself buying an Apple 30" HD display/ Dell 24"/ Samsung 226BW in the near future for designing as i do miss th ebigger desktop space...
