Default My site

Hey guys, at the minute i have a site too basic for my liking.

i am redesigning my site atm but first can i ask you guys a few questions?

When designing, flash or XHTML????

also, for content, is it a good idea to include the skills which you are proficient in or does that just confuse potential clients?

and finally, is it usually a better idea to have a contact form or order options?

as far as putting your skills, always put them there, but don't make them the focus of your offer to your client. then it just appears that you might just be showing off your knowledge, and it'll also make the client possibly bored, and stop reading. HOWEVER ALWAYS include your areas of specialty. more likely then not, the person looking for a website knows at least a bit about the biz.

flash or XHTML????
well which one is best for what you need to say? XHTML is more accessible and better for text and content of that ilk. Flash is better for visuals and simple text. Therefore, your site might benefit from being a bit of both ?

contact form or order options?
Can your order options be straight forward or is it more bespoke what you do? If the amount of options goes over 8-10, then it may be too complicated for a contact form, you might need to talk to these clients. Other people prefer to deal with this sort of thing on the web/email.

Analyse the sort of info you need. What do you need for a quote and what do you need extra for the job to start? Your site needs only to have the former. If you offer standard packages, it may be these can be ordered as such.

You could have it as

Package 1
Package 2
Package 3
Bespoke -

Above all, keep it simple.
