I would say the color needs bringing up a bit more to contrast with the darkness

Possibly tone down the background red/yellow so it's more muted. That should also help the main colours stand out.

I agree with the above critiques, but also take a look at your string of color moving up to the left hand corner....it makes your eye movement go in that area and takes you totally out of your composition and into nothingness. That may be what's messing with you.
