Default Retro logo

Greetings,

I am interested in hearing your comments about my new logo, which I have designed for my own small company.

I work as a pianist, and my repertoire is both classical music from the golden age of the piano in the late nineteenth century as well as evergreens from the Great American Songbook from the 30s and 40s. I have tried to design a somewhat oldfashioned, Art Deco-inspired logo which hopefully invokes the glamor and elegance af a bygone era.

I am planning to use the logo on my website and in connection with letterheads and business cards.

Do you feel the concept is working, and if not, do you have any suggestions...?

Best regards,
Lars Boye Jensen

I think it's great, hits the spot without a doubt, my only crit would be it's a shame the O is so dominant but that's just the font

Hi Toon, philjohns and doorknobs,

Thanks a lot for your critical remarks! I will try to incorporate the "reversed" gradients in my design. Also, I haven't settled for the "Avenida" font yet, but apart from "Anna" I haven't been able to find a satisfactory alternative.

Regards,

I think it's spot on. I really like it.

I like it, it really says what you need it to. I'd perhaps fade the gradients down a tad, but not too much to lose them, just to boost readability of the text.

While it's a lovely illustration, it's not entirely suitable for a logo, mainly with regard to printing it. Try resizing your logo to about half the size it appears in your post and ask yourself how legible it is. “Not very” is the answer. The fine lines in the pianist illustration won't print very cleanly at small sizes either.

It also doesn't work as a single colour/knockout, which will make it more expensive to print.

I like the idea and the execution a lot, but I think it needs a bit of work to be practical.
