A testimonial that I recieved from the clients shows me how pleased they are with the logo. I agree with the fact that editing the typeface may have been an idea, but at the age of 16 I'm not going to spend an age on a logo that I wasnt being paid a whole lot for. Thanks all for your comments, Im really glad some people like and will take in all your critique next time I do a logo.

An 18 year old could possibly do profoundly better work than a 40year old who's been in the business donkies. Just be confident in what you are good at and just develop your skills the best to your ability :) |

EAAAAAAAAAAASY guys!
I believe "vercotrportrait" was trying to say that the logo lacks some visual effects that are available to all designers in applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, etc... I agree though that the medium is irrelevant but this graphic is kind of plain and too big to be a logo. "Philjohns" clarified that the client is not going to use it in an extremely small size - but still in a medium size it won't work. For instance, try to create a business card and place that logo on it: I'm sure it'll be hard to see the 2 Ds in the first circle when you resize it down to something like 2-3 cm wide! ~KEEP CREATING~

First off, I think you may have gone a little nuts with the gradients. I mean there isn't anything in your logo without them (part of the reasoning is that a printed version will never look as good as a digital logo, the design should cross both platforms).
Secondly your font works. Good choice, clean effective. However your kernning (for those who don't know, its the space between your letters) needs some work. Specifically around your o and a. And why no ligiture or something interesting between the t's or just something to take attention away from the gap in between the horizontal lines. I will say the colors work nicely together, the dots seem to carry more weight and thus the horizontal motion follows the dots and not the words, and that is a bid problem in logo design. The words must have the most emphasis. |

Phil,
At the end of the day the client is happy with the work, but are you? Many people spend all day doing design work they personally hate. I tried it and personally I find the work is nothing like as good as when I am behind it more. Design is about passion. What you have created is a good effort, I'd perhaps take on board what has been said and if you feel you want to, do another edit and present this to the client if its not too late, or simply learn for next time. That is not saying you've made a mistake in the slightest. We are all learning (or should be). |
