Feedback on site design

Ok guys what do you think?

This is the 3rd/4th (can't remember how many) redesigns I've pulled on our site. I've finally got it to a level where I am happy with it!

That said, like every other design I start, I spend that much time looking at it that doubts start creeping in.

Bear in mind that we haven't got it sorted in IE6 yet.

I am a little concerned about a few things. One, that the main navigation is looking a little weak. Two, that the sub-navigation is not prominent enough. Three, that the repeating vegetation images above the footer are out of place, and just generally rubbish.

One of the things I've learned in the design process is the use of slightly off-white in pages. I think using colours other that extreme black and white makes the pages easier to look at. Maybe that's just me. What do you think?

Pretty good. I personally don't like that green. Other than that it's ok.

Where is the design? Is that the one from your signature link??

not a bad site, id like maybe nicer rollovers on the menu and also i couldn't work out what was with the photos of trees and plants near the menu, it felt like i was on an enviromental site but other than that nice job!

I like it.. nice clean crisp and easy to navigate. Sometimes simple is better.

and of course I love the Valid XHTML and VALID CSS

@crazy - point taken about the green, changed.

@seseme - I guess the thought behind the images of trees was "growth, life, vitality", that kind of stuff. I can see how it comes across as an environmental site...

@tommylogic - thanks for the comments. IMO, Validation should be standard for every page.

Thanks for taking the time to view it. One more thing, I'm considering using anchors when linking to pages. So when someone clicks on one of the links in the side navigation (not the main navigation) it takes them to the page and scrolls down to the content so the breadcrumbs are at the top of the page. Does this make sense to anyone? The thought behind this would be to stop visitors from having to scroll past the header of every page. Do you think this would be inconsistent and disorientating. Would it be better to have a "skip to content" button at the top?

It's nice, clean, simple.

But the auto scroll button - it seems you have just put that in for the heck of it? As your site is not very long, it only takes 2 scrolls of the wheel on my mouse to reach the top.

The black button to do the job for me, i feel is irrelevant
