I've just uploaded my first, fairly simplistic, website and was wondering what you thought - in terms of both layout and content. Any feedback appreciated!

You have an errant bit of code /> showing upper left. However, the splash page is irrelevant and could be eliminated.
While the [01] ..... navigation looks cool, it doesn't provide the hints that thumbnails do.
I think you would be surprised if you tested with users. If you asked, my estimation is most would say you don't have a blog as part of that site.
The site looks so neat and clean, the first reaction is just to say it looks good. But seeming perfection can hide obvious flaws.

it took me a few min to notice the info at the bottom left was changing with the previews. your flow would be a bit better if you place that in the right whitespace next to the preview. it would be more evident then that they were associated.
other than that... i agree with Tool and D856C, though i'm not sure if thumbnails would look good with the cleanness and great use of whitespace in your site.
It is nice... my only beef with it is that you might want to move the navigation to the other site pages up to the top, so it isn't inadvertently below the fold. It kinda goes along with what D856C said about the blog... Nice work though.
Im really sorry, but i think it is a very bland, boring looking website showcasing some amazing work
You need to do something else to the design of the site in my opinion to show off your work better
