Default Critiq On Logo Designs Please ?

What do you think ?

Took some opinions from fellow posters on here & changed some of these logos, what i have noticed is that people designing logos seem to make logos with the main point of the name standing out, basically the main emphasis is on the name then actual shapes etc.. and also that people seem to use less or no shadows & effects am i correct in these asumptions ?

Just need to know please.

Thanks.

hmm, i'm not keen on them - super cars might have something, again with work, i'd remove that underline first though. duba estates? i see what you tried to do but id doesn't work. it seems you are thinking wholly inside the box, your logos seem pretty straightforward and use pretty standard typefaces.

hey WA,
was just looking to see if you played with supercars. Looks better.

I dont want to preach but there is no assumptions, trends, emphasis or any of that. We are designers. based on verbage/ ideas from the client ie-what they are after. Its your call, its your feel, its your style.

But the over done effects are a general no no the idea being how will this look on the side of a building all the way down to a printed business card level. That is the biggest factor when deciding the "effects".

Personaly i like flat simple 1-3 color logos but thats me.
24 year old white boy that was trained under a (modern/swiss taught) Crouwel-Vignelli inspired techer. Which was the head of my Graphic Design department while i was in school.

Back to the work, all are good, supercars is way better but keep going.

I'm busy at work so the other thing i would say is work in black and white focus on the positive and negitive shapes your design make. not whats hip or what others are doing. besides that its ok to use italics, light and ultra light versions of fonts everything right now is heavy.

Keep at it they all are headed in good directions

you realise that if you put the arc over the top, the shape of the logo almost resembes a car shape. still, not sure about it, still needs some work done.

Ah,
Thats a logo
Feels fast sitting still doesn't it.
Cause im a yankee the red white and blue is tough. I see they are seperate but still?
It seems to have a 70's rustic feel. Light feel and good i think.

The interaction between the r and the curve is a good direction.
Prefer it over the "a"

Curve Top or bottom?
ianm thinks top but this is one of your calls.
As long as you have a general explination why you tried it you can sell almost any design

Personally I've never seen a super car with the bubble shape of a vw passat?
On top of that nissan or somebody was doing something just like that this year.
which is not a negative or positive.

A Veyron is the top dog right now, and actually i'm a gearhead at the same time so i havent really tried to recreate the perfect shapes other designers put into the shapes of their cars, bit of a Holy Ground for me.

Good work
Serious improvement,
My teach would make me look at the first design i did and the one that feels like its breaking ground at the same time. Side by side on paper or screen and soak them in at the same time. Makes you really see what wasnt working the first round.

A different shade of blue might improve it a little
