Sleepyeyes business card

I've been lurking for a few weeks and decided it's time a jump in. this is a business card i made for my girlfriend for her desktop publishing class. i know it sounds dishonest but the only reason she registered was to do the prof a favor because he needed one more person for the section not to get dropped and he is a friend of mine. anyways tell me what you think.


ps has anyone ever heard of a way to get around problems with fonts that wont embed

is this meant to be front and back? because they dont really look like the same card and i definitely like the second one most, it's really good work

yeah it's front and back. and i definately understand the lack of cohesiveness between the two. Had this been actual client or for a real card i would actually probably change it so thanks for pointing that out.

:) aah, didn't realise that didn't matter even though it's just for a course, but definitely good work on both sides anyway lol

I like the first one fine but the other (I'll call it reverse) could do with sharp fonts it doesn't have to be 'grunge' all over the reverse is more about information let the face do the design talking.

As for the fonts what are you doing it in?

A clearer font is definately needed for the main body of text, I really like it but I think it's a bit difficult to read.

I really like the way the "ee" in sleepy on the info side looks like eyes that are drowsy and so I would try playing with that on the front instead of the finger print which I don't really get for a design studio business card. I also like the overall color And I agree with the other comments that the font for the information should be more legible.

thanx for all the comments guys, i really appreciate it, and yeah you're definately right about the info being to hard to read.
and the thumb print thing was just a result of random late night boredom. you're right that it doesn't fit into any of the design, i took too many ideas and tried to put them all in one card without considering consistency. bad idea i know. the whole idea was that the thumbprint is realistic size and placement for a where someone would grab a card.

also font embedding problem comes from exporting from either indesign or illustrator into pdf.

Make the fonts outlines before export

yeah i suppose i should've mention i know about making them into outlines but in some cases (especially with more grungey fonts) the look gets changed a little when you convert it
