Needing some work.. Or shall I scrap it all-together?

Hey all

I'd love your opinions on this design: distantweb.co.uk

I know it needs a lot of improvement, in my eyes it just looks like what it is - a bunch of brushes chucked together and an over-use of purple. And I've been told the side-ways links aren't a good idea either, as some people will have trouble reading them..

Can anyone advise, tell me how I could improve upon it? Or shall I just move onto a completely different design?

I really like it! But i think it needs to be more central

while the design is visually cool, I dont think it will have the usability a website needs. Id start working on something else. Im not saying create a generic looking site, by all means get creative. Just keep the usability factor in mind.

My thought's exactly. I thought it was a nice design, but just didn't seem to be the right kinda thing for a portfolio.. Might use it for something else in the future :)
