Hi Guys,

Just done the first draft of the stationery for this project. I'm not convinced by it and just wondered if people pick up on the same faults with it as I'm thinking.

Edit: 2nd version which is an improvement I feel...just still not there. As much of a tw@t the green will be to print he's pretty set on having it as his colour due to his trade.

gradients are the new grunge.

inconsistent logo sizes.
shouldn't have two different types of logo on the same page.
redundant logos unnecessary on stationery.
company title should be more prominent.
greens are going to be hell to print unless using spot-colors.
the white logo stands out more, but it's the darker one that has the company name. consider swapping their use?
confused on usage on envelope. unsure of what the item between envelope and cards is as it doesn't seem to have an obvious utility.

Cheers Ross, I needed that. Having a shocker with this project and I can't get anything working properly but I haven't been able to see it...I knew there was loots wrong just didn't know what lol.

I'll get most of that addressed.

The one between the envelope and cards is a compliment slip (i've put it where the front of the envelope would be purely because that mockup didn't come with a space for a compliment slip and they're a similar dimension).

interesting. never heard of that before, but it makes total sense now that i've read the wiki page about it!

in that case, you should think about adding more space for writing but keep a balance where if there is not it's alright... a bit challenging in and of itself now that i think about it.
this is a prime example of why companies need branding guides!

it's like how when i look at a blank piece of non-rulled paper my mind empties and i stare at in a trace for minuets on end until i put one meaningless mark on it so i can concentrate...

Thanks mate. Just one of those projects where I couldn't see the wood for the trees (don't know if you have that saying over the pond lol).

Also, on a side note, how have you not come across compliment streets in your work to date?? That baffles me!

i'm primarily web-based. now that i know of them, i can remember seeing them around... just never payed attention to them before i guess. never had to design one for sure.
i've done similar concept work with auto-response emails if that counts?

what print work i have done is more focused on services and display station type stuf. even when i worked for a stationery company i didn't ever have to make one of these.
