Patch to Plate - logo design and graphic/concept design

Ok, so this is a uni assignment.

Two professional mums with backgrounds in horticulture and public health nursing have come together to fuse their passions for fruit and vegetable growing with educating children and young people about healthy eating, healthy lifestyles and their contribution to the environment. The concept is to build keyhole gardens in schools. Gardening in schools supports many government priorities like sustainability and to prepare young people for a lifetime of sustainable living.

The "package" can be whatever you want, a website, a game, a poster etc.

You are to create a logo and design the package that will be delivered to the students.
My idea for the "package" was to create collecting cards what will be awarded by the teacher when the student has done various tasks in his/her keyhole garden.

This is what my logo and card template looks like atm:

I'm gonna try and create cartoony vegetables/fruit for the kids to battle with... :P And I'm gonna have a small fun fact of each vegetable, like ex:
KarateCarrot. Fact: Carrots have c-vitamins and are good for your sight. KarateCarrot has lazerbeam eyes (or something)...
So they would have the power that the actual fruit/vegetable benefits you..

It's done entirely in Illustrator, and the logotype is based on the font Agent Orange.

I'm targeting students at a junior/secondary school level (I think this is the right age group as I'm not familiar with the British school system). But at about age 7-12?

So, what do you guys think of the design and the idea? It's due next thursday, so changing the concept isn't really possible for me atm, but I'm open for smaller tweaks and critiques.

I love your idea! But I thought the plate part looked like metal at first, especially at the smaller size.

Yeah, but the card image is actually smaller than life size.. I think...
Do you think it will still look like metal on the actual cards?

I think it's funky and colourful and will appeal to the target age group. Since that is where my mental age lies, you should listen to me.

    Nice!

The Plate has the metal effect on it, sorry but i thought those were flowers instead of bolts or screws?
Life is history in the making..and vice-versa.

    It is flowers.
It's supposed to look like a porcelain plate.

I quite like the logo, but I had trouble seeing the flowers as well. I instantly thought of metal and bolts. But apart from that, great work!

I like your idea its nice :D

Maybe make the inner line thicker to give it the plate look cause at the moment you cant really see it unless your look closely which is when it appears as a plate
