Hi all,
Just hoping for some opinions on a logo I did for a local auto body repair shop.

Hi all,

apologies in advance but this logo breaks every rule which logo design involves. A good logo needs to be scalable, look good in black and white and get a good message across.
The gradient is way too strong. If you are going to use gradients then make it a slight colour change, for example dark red to a slightly lighter red.
The thing on the top looks like a tattoo and doesn't really represent an auto body repair shop. Something strong and dynamic would be better suited.
There isnt any great cohesion with the text.
My recommendation would be research. Do lots of research into what makes a good logo . Look through the websites that are listed here The Ultimate List of the Top Best Logo Design Resources
Then start drawing out ideas on a sketch book. Remember to make things simple. Most great logos are very simple.
I find going onto logopond and searching for logos that are for a similar market is good for getting an idea on what is required from your logo.

The above is all very true. Also, I think you may want to leave the tagline out of the logo, so it can scale better. There's a lot of text going on. See if you can find a way to make the letters give the impression that it's about collision repair, or else use an icon that would convey that message.
Very good advice, thanks !
Ill check out your link tonight and do some more studying!
