Casa Verde|Portfolio Design

So I have decided to save up some money and invest in flash.
I was looking at some cool flash sites today and i decided once i learnt how to use all the awesome flash stuff i would build a basic flash website.
I decided that i was going to make a portfolio.

So even though this will probably never go ahead i designed a template.
I would much appreciate your views on it.

I was going for a basic and neat but yet proffesional look.

not bad, it is definitely a good start..if you keep at it editing it making it better more stylish etc find out what people like and add it....unique is always good...:P

It's tough because a working site might come alive, a picture of a site is always going to look pretty flat and won't have any function

Just a few suggestions, as far as colors / concepts are concerned. Your site is Casa Verde, but the main layout is gray + blue. Why Casa Verde? I would imagine that GREEN would be a more prominent color in that case.

Also, you have Blue, Green, Red, and Orange all on the same navigation. I think it's kind of a neat idea to have different colors for each section, so it adds to some sub-conscious organization... but they should all fall into some sort of color scheme. The colors you have there are all really strong, and conflict heavily with one another. Take a look at this color wheel and you may get some ideas.

Also, there is a bar above the navigation with seemingly no purpose. Why is it there?

I think you've got a good start, I'm just trying to stir up some more ideas.

That bar isnt actualyl there. it appeard when i uploaded the image. and casa verde because my surname is green so i lvie in the greenhouse :P

I think you should go with that theme a bit stronger.
And I agree with mattpowers, the navbar colors are a bit icky, you should work on that a bit more :)

Maybe work on a entirely green based color scheme?
