Default Break Dancing Illustration

Ive never really done any proper illustrations in illustrator before and thought I would give it a go this evening.

Would appreciate ANY comments, views, criticism...

I got a photo of a break dancer off the internet and outlined it with the pen tool. I tried various waves, line effects but liked this the most with the effect of the stave and notes bring the whole thing together (in my opinion ;))

thanks,

Phil

EDIT:

attached image was poor quality so have uploaded it to my website...

I quite like where you've started but the major thing for me would be getting more of a sense of movement in there. I think you've tried with him creating bubbles, though with the line connecting to him, it looks like a fire exteinguisher he's set off. What are those bits?

I would make a bigger deal of the dancer, increase him in size from everything else and then i think its cool.

The "bubbles" are just there toadd a sense of movement but quite clearly it doesnt really have the desired affect - Im ahving a fiddle with it now and changing the bubbles for lines and added more tones to it. Will upload once finished....again!

Thanks

mmmmm i think it was just how they seemed to be connected to him... Think about how the bubbles will alter over time from him. They'd dissipate, pop , change shape etc so reflect that in the bubbles

Extend the swirls effect that you have around his lower arm to the legs and other hand. It will tie the whole scene together. More colors and things always make things pop a little more too!
