What do you think?

I'm planning on making a new website, called Tunez which'll be a music website for bands/ artists whatever to sign up and upload music and videos. People can then join up and add themselves as friends/ fans/ followers/ groupies to the band/ artist's profile. Once joined they would keep up-to-date with the band/ artist's latest gigs, latest news, announcements & info etc etc, whatever the band/ artist wants them to know really. The users could then rate the songs the band/ artist upload, add them to their favourites, download them and listen to them in Media Player etc. Everytime a song is added to the user's favourites it'll be updated on the users profile (just a mini profile) saying what song's they've been favouriting lately (or 'listening to').

You could leave comments on other users / artists/ bands profile's for them to read, send messages. The band/ artist profile's would be the main profile's with the most info. User profiles would just be basic info, abit about them, a picture, favourite songs ('listening to') and comments that've been left on their profile. Maybe the ability to add band/ artist's uploaded music video's to their profile.

You could search a particular band/ artist to see if they're signed up yet, or search for your friends to add to your friend list. If a band/ artist you search for is not signed up yet you could make a fan group for them.

Here's what I was planning on having it look like, just in graphic's for now;

Except some of the text on these page's would be smaller (expecially the text on the login page, in the image it looks extra huge!) and it wouldnt be as squashed in together lol. So, I wanna know what you think of it, any improvements, ideas, etc.

Edit: I'll post a picture sometime soon for what I'd like the user/ band/ artist 'desktop, dashboard, profile edit place' to look like lol :)

lol yeah I know, but I said in the post 'and it wouldnt be as squashed in together lol.' the images are just graphics I haven't coded it yet, when it gets coded it wouldnt be as squashed lol. i'm just putting my 'image plans' for what I want the site to look like up, just so I can get idea's on the design, and maybe change it if needed or if someone comes up with a cool idea or something to change in the design :)

mmmmm the idea seems solid enough. But you're going to have to work your socks off to compete with the likes of myspace... Personally the 'look' just is not cutting edge or appealing to me. I think the type is all a bit big and having it all so tightly tracked is making it all look a bit close and blobby. If I am getting you idea right, it sounds like it 'could' expand alot, at which point this design will fall down further. You've made a decent stab at it but I don't think it's quite right yet.

This has to be a user friendly site for users and bands or they simply won't register. Take at look at similar sites and how they are constructed. I am not saying go all web 2.0 in the design ( in fact, please don't) but in terms of structure, if could be a good start...

hmm yeah I know what you mean. I don't think i'm gonna bother with the image's, i'm just gonna code it and see how it turns out. I know how I want it to look in my mind, the image's dont look exactly how I want it to look though. it does look pretty blobby now I look at it properly tbh lol i'll maybe change the colour scheme too

I'd draw it out from you head on paper... Not only will this help you code (since you can then divide it up into a div grid or whatever) but also show any early issues BEFORE the code has its own issues.... Will also help clear your head and show you what your aiming for....

all the pages listed on the navigation + the edit profile, profile display and all the links along the bottom of the page will have this kinda layout. but all the user login/ forgot password/ signup etc pages will have a diff layout, i've done the login/ forgot password/ signup pages but they wont upload, my internets going tooo slow atm lol

theres the login page, from that page the only link that'll work is forgot password link, from the forgot p/w page no links will work :)
