Default Website Critique and Views please

Ive finally managed to complete my website around my GCSEs - Ive been pushed to do it as Ive got an exhibition in June of my photographs so have had to have a nice website to push people onto from their.

Plymouth Graphic and Website Design

Would appreciate any feedback.

Phil

EDIT:

On my photography portfolio the first set of thumbs actually link to other categories - I am yet to find time to label these thumbs...

It's rather square and the text could use a little styling perhaps. And maybe space out your top nav a little more, it's tight.

Other than that, its looking MUCH better. All the site's functions work well. And of course it is all valid coding, I like to see that.

Im glad you think its a lot better. What sort of ideas (if any) do you have for the styling of the text?

Its this forum thats made me code my websites by hand because then its easier for me to have them validated...I hate sites that dont validate now and they bug me for hours!

Thanks

I think the header needs a bit of spice-up to it. Maybe an image on the right portion of it, maybe just some additional colors, or lines of some sort. Mess around with it and see what you come up with.

nice bg..

looks cool phil, I would add a bit more padding to the top of the footer and just make it a bit more semanic ie use:-

rather than just About

Good job.

Thanks,

why do your recommend using
etc etc just for the record?

I'll look into it when I get time.

For semantic code ie they are links so so be styled thus.

Its the same sort of thing as putting header text in

tags, we could quite easily style them to look like header text under a different tag like or or some thing but we need to keep everything in its right place if there was no css.

mmmmmmm...In a user sense, if I came over to your website having seen your show, I'd probably leave again...The photography is hidden. I'd change that side thing to reflect the photography on your front page and change your navigation to have all 3 categories on the top level maybe...

Also, on the images for your portfolio sections (which you'd not need if you follow my advice above) you have screen shots of the design interface... Simply I think this is a missed opportunity to show off a little of your work - design people coming past know what the program interface looks like, and the general public won't care. Simply, you're putting in a stage that's not needed...

Once again I can't understand people putting a link at the foot of their site linking to the same page?
