Nice re-design Lauren! I think it looks much better than your previous version. It just has a lot more artistic flair to it. I haven't had time to really explore around in it and test the links, but I think it looks great.

One thing I may suggest is regarding the posts, and the elements that are around it. The squiggly line under the headers, and the double dotted lines at the end make it visually busy. Instead of being drawn to your post and the message, I'd drawn to those elements, and then back and forth. Maybe remove the squiggle and one of the dotted lines? Just a thought.

Kip, yes, I know. Ever since the beginning, Creative Curio has a had a link to EDF (and even before, when it was GDF), but just this week I had to remove them to get the design to work. I'll be adding them back in.

Zumo, 100% agree that bad typography is more likely to be found than good typography! But it's like that in print, too ;) Have you seen Font Burner yet? It uses sIFR, which is not new to the web, but still, an interesting concept.

Jeff, thanks for the feedback. I think that purple line under the posts could be removed, too. I had it there and then added in the blue behind the post and never removed the purple line. I needed something to draw attention to where new posts began, but now it's probably too much!

That's true I guess. Nice find on that site. I guess my main concern is that print-wise, there are more designers involved than on the web. A sweeping general statement I know. There will always be bad work, since it must balance what is good. There are still a lot of web 'designers' out there who have not even fathomed the basis of 'site' yet so a shudder to think what they'll do with typography. There are loads of talented people with code but crap with design and designers great with design and crap with code (like me!) - pair them up and you've got something positive...

That'd be me and my husband! Though he is good at design, too. But he's the one that built my site. He's reeeeeally good with coding.

Good job. Fact is while you can have people who can do both, it's rare. And there is far too much in both fields to know it all... Generally people also prefer one to the other (design or coding)

Totally agree. And I hate seeing job adverts that are requesting a professional designer with 10 years experience who are also experts .NET, PHP, SQL, AJAX, C#, Java, etc. Meh.
