well now that you have that stuff sorted I think you can get onto the other things...

unless you meant that play on words... but either way about it, you might consider "hiding" a skip to nav &/or skip to content link at the top of the doc... before you get too deep into the design. I would assume you will eventually have that need as your site grows.
Also, you might consider looking into a "contact form". You can create a separate page or the new trendy thing is a "quick contact" form box on your main page. Visitors seem to like that convenience.
You also might consider a lightwindow or something to display your current work (and keep your people on your page). I know that is also quite the thing these days, but it's for a reason and there are about 100K different models you can use. You can even use a live site in the window as I have done on these live tutorials

Thats my thought for now.. just some minor fixes and future planning.
