Default New Portfilio Site - Please Critique :)

Hey gang, I just posted a preliminary version of my new portfolio site I've been putting together. At the time of posting this (May 1st, 2008) I still plan to do a few things. For example:

- Add some sort of subtle scrolling text in the black area of the header, between the city image and the nav menu.
- When you click on the portfolio page, I plan to put in a crossroads image to choose what section of the portfolio you want to go to, this way I can break up the long list a little.
- Still need to do the contact page, right now it's just my email address.
- Lighten up some of the darker text on the resume page, in case a viewer had their monitor set a little darker than normal.
- Think I will change "Home Street" to "Main Street"
- Take in critique advice and possibly make changes from that. ;)

So please tell me your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. I look forward to hearing your reviews!! :)

Oh lol, and the site address is:

I like the idea you have had for the site and your logo work is very good but I thinkn the site is a little plain, other than the initial impression you get when it loads not much changes.

I know its nice to have uniformity and flow in a web design but it's also good to keep a level of uniqueness to pages, especially when you don't have that many, maybe a slight background change or something since you are on different "streets"

I agree with Diablos. Nothing stands out with your site from an every day blog(except the lamp that is quite annoying to me personally).

I think maybe less scrolling is something you should look at as well.

Your "white" flash site is much more interesting. why not go with that?

Interesting the differences you get from one forum to another. I posted on another forum and I got really good reviews. Where as over here they seem to be rather negative. But I'll put the info together and see what changes I can come up with. :)

You've got some really nice ideas but personally I don't think you've made the best of them and you've tried to go for a bit of everything. In essence, you've watered down your ideas and diluted your strengths.

You've got a great idea with the signage, and I quite like the lamp, so what not extend that idea, create a deeper world for your user to into. Then have your text integrate with that. Think outside the boxes you've created too, Maybe you have a cross roads, with a shop, neon signs flickering, maybe thats a tv shop with a tv that flicks into action (roll over or not ) , you could have a traffic light that seems to cycle though, a bus shelter with bare neon tubes showing... I mean to inspire you and not knock you here. It is a good site, I just think you obviously have the skills to go further...

Also - contact page should be your number one priority - even if thats just a e-mail link. you could be missing passing trade already!

I'd lose the marquee entering strapline and the reflection.
