Welcome Pixie, I quite like the purple and black it's got a nice contrast, the site is quite feminine and delicate. I would think about using a background colour rather than white, maybe a dark grey would be good

Your front page has a lot of space which is fine, but your other pages feel crammed in comparison. Your navigation system is also not the clearest thing, but I think the main thing is structure...

How do you want people to see this? The homepage asks a lot of questions. The navigation then jumps into a new format when clicked, which can confuse visitors.

I'd consider going for a 'services' 'portfolio' and about us sections or something.

Oh and crop the pick & mix on the front page. I don't it's requires with the logo there and just typed in, it looks lost next the rest.

A good solid start though...

nice design overall
I would try and make the text next to you panels actual text rather than image,there doesn't seem to be any reason for it not to be text.

As a general rule I always make menus, tabs and other items text where possible because it all adds to your SEO ranking and is also more 'accessible'

Just my opinion though!

I would also reduce the background, when you click on 'web design' and you have the black background with the flower in the bottom right corner.
The size of the image is 900 x 900 and the content area is only around 620pixels, so I would resize it as it loaded slightly slower than everything else.

Also it appears you are using templates in something like dreamweaver? As alot of your code seems to be full of comments; if you got rid of them that will also speed things up alot more.
Your page fails on 25 errors, I would check (or get a techie friend to check) those as it can mean your page does not display as well in all browsers.

Hi everyone
Thanks for your advice, i will be having a look at the navigation at some point but i do really like the idea of using the logo as buttons so not sure what im going to do yet!!

Thanks for the advice about the background, i'll look at this too.
I am using dreamweaver to create this site and making my own templates, i will ask a techie friend about removing the comments and about the errors, i didn't realise it had so many, hopefully i'll be able to sort it out now.
thanks again for the advice everyone, its helped a lot

i concur with the others about not using the white color as the background.

also, i thought the footer, at first glance, was the typical google ad block that you often see these days on websites. not cutting off the flowers and not using white background will get rid of the 'google ad' looking footer. good luck.

I also like the black and purple mix, the only thing I noticed was in the portfolio I couldn't click to see the live sites, is it because you're still making it?

Just done some more changes but still need to do some more work on it, at least its looking better now, thanks again for your advice.
I don't know why you couldn't click on the portfolio icons as they work on my pc in firefox and IE7, i don't think all of the icons are working yet but the first few should open ok, i'll look in to why there not as soon as i get a chance
many thanks

Default I Like your Design

I Liked your Design

I also like Squares with Rollover Effect and Colors combination

I liked Icons you have made

You need to add margin and padding to the page

Eaample:

<style>
body
{marign:0;
padding:0;
}
</style>
