Ok guys, need some direction here. I pretty much know what most of you will say, but i'm going to throw it out there anyway. I have this Baptist Church who is looking for a trifold. They gave me the specific information to have in there. The target audience is teenagers, male and female. They gave me no direction what so ever to go with, so this is off the top of my head. I'm not a religious person so i don't know what applies to the Baptist Church.
What can i / should i do to make this more appealing? |

Hey
I'm no expert, but I know that as a teenager myself that wouldn't appeal to me. Take A look at this. I think that this appeals to a teenage audience very very well. I'm not saying you should copy it exactly, but you could go along those lines. Picasa Web Albums - Gary - Design People need to be able to identify with themselves in these types of things. Also, people who are already not involved in church will not be interested in looking at something with Bible quotes on it as they will most likely believe that it's a load of rubbish. It may be a good idea to keep one quote on, but people shouldn't be drawn to it initailly they should naturally move onto it if they're interested. I Think you can do something a little more interesting.
I would recommend doing something relevant to teenagers. I think also you should stick with 1 or 2 good fonts. As well I think you can do something a little bit more interesting and less legible with the quotes. And if it is argued just remind them the verse numbers are there if kids really want to look them up. I think a graffiti font would be cool. Also I would stay away from dropshadows and outlines on fonts. Just plain Tacky!

When I think of the target audience, I think of blue hair, pierced tongues, and skateboards. Perhaps the face in the picture could reflect one of those types of people. I know not all teens are like that... but I do think that most teens are rebellious, and may relate to something like pictures of drug usage, pictures of angry parents, pictures of kids drinking alcohol, pictures of cigarette smoking, etc.
That said, and regardless of the actual design, I think the actual text does not do well to stir up a teen to want to change their ways. I am religious in nature, and beleive there are better ways to get somebody to think about what's going on in their life. Rather than a message of self improvement, perhaps the right direction to go would be a message that shares why a person would need God based on what the Bible says about sinners. Until a person understands the nature of their sin, they will never realize they need to be saved from its consequence. I suppose what you are trying to create is very much like a Christian tract, and you can find many examples of those online. If you need help finding some good examples, you might try livingwaters.com.
