Default Logos for Signs

This might not be the right place to post this but it works. I work in the sign industry. Pretty much everything from huge monument signs to vehicle magnets. The one problem I see is that many designer, myself included, don't think about business signage as a criteria a logo should fit in. We are mostly concerned with print stuff like business cards, letterhead, blah blah blah.

What about making it usable for signs?

I don't know about you but that is one of necessities to know before you design a logo, where it is going to go. If your client is going to put it on a sign or a truck, or even the ass of some one's pants you need to design it so it will work there.

I hear ya, but the problem i run into is orientation. If i customer has a storefront they need some sort of wall sign whether it be channel letters, or cabinets. A lot of logos I handle don't have a configuration to use for sign bands which are mostly long and skinny.

In some cases, I imagine the choice of application is decided after thee logo, but good logo design should work over all applications. There is as much choosing the right type of sign for the logo, as the right logo for the sign if you get me. The design of anything should go hand in hand.
