Which web page is all over the internet, sorry I've come in half way through.

That was referring to the original poster's webpage. Brian's. (I think that was his name.)

And thank you.

Ok yikes, web 2.0 debates aside...

Brian, I think your site needs to reflect what you have written in the text. If you "specialize in modern web design," the site style and layout should reflect that. You may be excellent at coding, which is great, but the style is lacking. I would suggest studying examples of good web design (tons of CSS galleries out there) and assessing what makes them "good." Functionality and accessibility are definitely part of that, but so is the asthetic appeal. Also read this post on style from Ideas on Ideas, which I think supports what you are trying to assert about true design.

The logo is a bit strange. You have a globe, but then you have CA, but then you also say you serve those local cities on the side. So are you global? State-wide? Only in So Cal?

I would take out the display of how you can edit family pictures, too. It's really not adding to the message of your professionalism.

Rather than listing the names and addresses of your past freelance clients, get a testimonial from them about how it was to work with you. It would go over much better to convince new clients to hire you!

Hope you've found these suggestions helpful.

OK, I changed it up a little bit. You might have to dump your cache or refresh to see the changes. Perhaps this is a step in the right direction?

Yeah that's coming along nicely. I'd perhaps work on the green/red thing and reduce out on of them: either red the top bar, or green the text, or another colour. That might well be a personal preference thing though I feel maybe one too many colours.

I've drop the 'my day job' link. It does not look professional and throughs out the flow of the site. Use that area as a sub navigation for perhaps your web and your photo work. In real terms, this will boast their search engine stuff and though it may bring people to you, if may also alert your bosses that you're doing work elsewhere. If they know, then fair enough but then place it as a link elsewhere.

I'd not but both web and photo work on the same page as it feels cluttered, page them out or drop the photowork.

On a side note, consider using your surname. This is totally up to you but I imagine that there are many people called Brian, and many that do web design. Flashwiz on this site for example. Therefore being Brian X's web design, you'll be more professional and be more unique. If you have an uncommon surname, if may also boast your SEO when people use that to try and find you.

I own that business. Yes, the link probably does not belong there, but I'm still thinking about what I want to do with the horz nav. I really don't care for horz nav, so I may just take it out altogether. IDK. It's really not important. I get enough customers to make the extra income I am looking for.

I'd like to go full time with web design, but my real dream is to win the lottery. If I ever did, I'd never work on another website again!
