Actually a computer is like a paint brush, pencil or even a pen. It's another extension or tool for an artist to utilize. Having a computer doesn't make anyone a designer or an artist, it's knowing how to produce using a medium (which a computer is) that makes you a designer or artist.
I am actually one of the very few people on this forum who used boards, paste-up and rubies in design before computers were ever used. So from my perspective, it makes sense for me to keep pushing the envelope with the tools on the computer to achieve effects that haven't been explored. None-the-less, I also continue to use watercolors, color pencil and ink traditionally.
