Default First time coloring.

here is the original picture, It's old... yes I drew it, and no it's not my best.

well the b+w is really good! the colour one is lacking something though and i don't know what it is hmmm...

Depth, decent lighting (both colour and shading), varying line weights, shadows.

Well.... I never... I'll try again with different drawing.. I'll try to add in more shading and what not.

The black outlines could be avoided. I notice them as a downfall for many pieces of art. We rely on them to distinguish the shapes, but we shouldn't. Try using just the color more to break up the different areas.

Example of good coloring, As cwilk already states about the lines (specially thick ones), should be avoided, Although they can go around the outer contour of characters and look good if done right.
