Default looking for constructive critisim

Im not really trying to win any awards, but I would like to have a site that would be worthy of some.

Right now Im just not impressed with most of my new design. I like the colors, header/background, and thats about it.

It still looks a little flat to me. Can anyone make some real reccomendations?

HERES THE LINK

Bad points are the logo and header could do with being a little smaller, not a lot just a little and I don't like the menu rollovers look a bit stuck in the middle of no where. Rest is coming along nicely though the text looks much better in that colour than in white as before..

I'm not overly keen on the textures, they seem a bit heavy to me. And the typeface of the menu rollovers and main text doesn't quite seem to fit, I'd choose something a bit more delicate.

Otherwise, nice! Do like the colours and logo.

How much smaller would you suggest? Using these big ass monitors I tend make things a little too big.

About the menu, is it in a bad spot or do you just not like the rollovers? Suggestions?

Thanks for taking the time to look over the page.

does the sharpness of the brush strokes , or lack of, around the main image bother anyone else?

The main thing about the menu is...

About is off centre but Portfolio is centrerd it's inconsistent and it should maybe sit on the line below rather than just hover above it.

I noticed that as well. Do you think there is anyway to fix that othern than adding padding to each individual link?

i don't like the bottom of the red header abruptly ending when everything else has at least a slight fade to it, i think u wanted the red to appear on top the page with a drop shadow, but maybe just throw a sharp, not to noticeable transparent to black gradient at the bottom (not as tall at the gradient right below it)

i like the overall site though, reminds me of older designs before this web 2.0 bull**** lol ;)

What do you think about this?

Should I move the image up a touch, leave it, or make it flush with the red?

I think I might try adding atouch of gradiant to the bottom of the red as well as reposistion the nav like you guys so kindly suggested....I'll keep you posted..
