I like the concept of offering users to register and set up their own portfolios, but this has already been done more than once and I don't think finalcrit has the best solution (yet).
Another service is Carbonmade : Your online portfolio.

I think carbonmade are about a year old and have been doing a great job. When we had the idea for finalcrit we didn't think by any means that it was a "new" thing but somehting that could be developed a bit further to suite more of a graphic/illustrators needs, who want the interactivity of a flash based portfolio but without having to learn flash. Finalcrit is a baby and we hope to develop it more and more, we like it so far and hope most creative types feel the same way.
